I moved here three years ago. Actually, I moved to Castleton On Hudson, across the river and south about 20 minutes. I moved there with my wife and began my studies at SUNY Albany. This May I received my Masters of Regional Planning degree. Then, everything changed.
Long story short, to quote Bob Dylan, we "split up on a dark sad night both agreeing it was best." That isn't exactly true, but it will have to do, because the truth frankly will not.
So now I live in Albany, in a small apartment with my medium sized dog. Not to disparage the city of zero gravity, but I never thought I would end up here. But, life sends us curve balls and sometimes we hit them and sometimes they hit us. I'm trying to hit this one.
Together, Madeleine and I are trying to make a go of it. Trying to love this city, because, after all, a city ain't too much to love. Yes, the title of this blog is shamelessly stolen from a Smog album.
Basically, this blog is a chronicle of my attempt to know and love this city. I'm used to more cosmopolitan surroundings, so long time Albanians should prepare to be offended.
